Your Biggest Questions About Painting Cabinets
You deserve to have your questions answered before investing in your Cabinet Painting project.
Why is there a wide range of prices between contractors?
There are many processes that can be done to paint cabinets. While some contractors have a thorough process that takes a few weeks, some other painters may be done in a few days.
Read about these processes and everything in between.
What is included in the cost?
Some factors of the cost of Cabinet Painting are labor, including a detailed prep work process, high-quality products and materials, the number of coats of product, and our 9-year warranty.
What could increase the cost?
One factor that could increase the cost of your project is the current condition of the cabinets, doors, and drawers which have undergone heavy wear and tear and will need extra attention.
Another factor is the type of finish you choose. For example, glazing can cost 40-45% more than regular painting, because of the extra labor and materials.
Another customization option that could increase the cost is changing your hardware, depending on your choice we may need to fill and drill new holes.
What is a 2K poly?
We use a 2k polyurethane, called Milesi, for our Cabinet Painting process. Two-component (2K) water-based polyurethanes (polys) have become a groundbreaking product for the wood coatings, automotive, and flooring industries. This product can be used as a clear or solid-pigmented finish to look like paint.
In addition to being extremely durable, this product is moisture, abrasion, and fade-resistant.
What are some ways to get the cost down?
To get the cost down you could keep your old hardware. You could also choose a more affordable finish like a stain, a regular solid color, or choose to have a clear coat on the cabinets.
Will there be any surprise charges during my project?
The estimate you are given is the price you can expect to pay. If any unexpected repairs are found, or you decide to have us do additional work, a change order will be created. We will not add anything on without your approval.
When can we start the project?
Typically we can start in your home approximately 3 to 5 weeks after proposal acceptance. Some factors that may increase or decrease the start date include the quantity and scope of work already scheduled, the color selection process, material shipments, and previously scheduled customers pushing back their start date.
How long would the project take?
An average-sized cabinet painting job will take about 2 to 3 weeks to complete. You can expect a crew to be working in your home for the first half of the project, then returning later to install your doors and drawer fronts that were finished at our shop.
What if I don't know what color or finish I want?
Let us help! We offer a 1-hour color consultation appointment with a local designer. This appointment is included with our Cabinet Painting service.
Is the prep work actually needed?
If you want the project done right, then yes it is necessary.
This is a major step that many contractors skip over.

Do you refinish furniture?
Yes, we do! We have a strip tank in our shop and have refinished many pieces of furniture from dining chairs and tables to church pews.
